Juan Carlos Benitez, the president of several workforce development and immigration law organizations, has worked extensively with the Republican Party. Juan Carlos Benitez has served as a member of numerous advisory councils in the area of economic development in American territories.

Developing the economies of American territories Guam, Puerto Rico, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the US Virgin Islands, and American Samoa, regions essential to America’s economic and military strategy, is a priority for the Republican Party.

To this end, the Republican Party seeks flexibility for American territories in the US government’s enforcement of some trade-related laws. The Party believes that exempting them from certain laws that would disproportionately increase their cost of living, such as portions of the Jones Act, would help secure their financial stability. Similarly, these territories should be encouraged to develop local resources, such as fishing, in order to create more jobs.

The Republican Party hopes to establish a committee focused on the economic needs and optimization of the territories, as well as the appointment of a special assistant to the president on these issues.
