American Bar Association Celebrates International Women’s Day

Juan Carlos Benitez is a leadership professional who has worked with numerous organizations such as international relations firm Cassidy & Associates, and who serves as the alternate director of the Guam Chamber of Commerce. Alongside this, Juan Carlos Benitez is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), an organization devoted to advancing the legal profession.

The ABA recently joined in celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8, with the group applauding the progress made in achieving equal rights for women across the world, though it does note that there is still more to be done.

In highlighting the issues that women still face in the United States, the ABA used the 19th Amendment as an example, which guarantees women the right to vote. While this was passed a century ago, female representation in political arenas is far from equal, with just 23.7 percent of Congress members being women.

With this disparity in mind, the ABA used International Women’s Day to ask all its members to continue fighting for fairness and equality.
